In this paper, the process that led to picturing Iran’s nuclear program as a threat to international peace and security will be examined. This paper claims that the global image that has been generated of Iran’s nuclear program is the result of a successful process of securitization. This process has been so complicated and profound that exiting from it would be extremely a difficult process. Iran has to appeal to all of its capacities to desecuritize its nuclear program, and if successful, prevent it from being resecuritized.
